It’s every mom’s worst fear right now.
More than 40% of retailers have been out of stock on baby formula since a national shortage began earlier this year, and while the White House scrambles to find a solution, mothers are doing everything they can to get their hands on the liquid gold. And that includes celebrities.
Olivia Munn recently went through every mom’s worst fear right now: spilling formula. The actress shared a photo on her Instagram story of a half-spilled container of formula in her suitcase. “When there’s a formula shortage and you open your suitcase to find your carefully packed formula has popped open and half of it is now gone,” she captioned the gut-wrenching picture.

Munn and comedian John Mulaney welcomed their first child, Malcolm Hiệp Mulaney, in November of last year. The 41-year-old first-time mother has been outspoken about feeding her 6-month-old son formula and open about her struggles with breastfeeding. In an Instagram post earlier this year, Munn revealed that she suffered from a low milk supply and tried numerous tactics to increase it for fear of not being able to bond with her baby, but nothing seemed to work.
“But then I said f*ck it,” she confessed. “Breastfeeding is good. But so is formula.”
The formula shortage is adding a new layer of stress to parents of infants. And there’s a lot of factors that went into it, including supply chain issues, recalls, inflation, and a decline in breastfeeding rate.
