Earlier this week, Kylie Jenner took to her Instagram Stories to share how her postpartum workout journey is going. The reality star got candid about the issues she’s been experiencing in the four months since giving birth to her son—specifically postpartum pain.
“4 months postpartum,” Jenner captioned one of the videos she shared. “I have been dealing with tons of back and knee pain this time so it slows down my workouts but I am on a mission to get strong again.”
In a similar post she shared back in March, Kylie opened up about some other postpartum struggles she was experiencing. She admitted that her postpartum period following her son was a lot different than how she felt after the birth of her daughter, Stormi.
When it comes to postpartum joint pain, the physical demands of pregnancy and labor can be to blame. A person may feel pain in the finger joints, hips, or knees or the pain might occur with other symptoms and disrupt daily living.
In some cases, the pain may be due to arthritis or carpal tunnel syndrome. Gentle exercise and eating a healthful diet can help reduce the risk of postpartum joint pain, according to Medical News Today.
While it can certaninly be argued that Kylie Jenner’s life isn’t always the most relatable for other moms, struggling during the postpartum period is something we can all sympathize with. And if someone with a giant public platform wants to shine a spotlight on her struggles so other moms may feel seen, well, that’s not a bad thing.
“Once I realized that…I was putting some pressure on myself, and I just keep reminding myself I made a whole human—a beautiful, healthy boy,” she said earlier this year. “And we have to stop putting pressure on ourselves to be back—not even physically, just mentally—after birth.”
